How Municipal Court Warrants Work
New Castle City Court is the municipal court listed for Henry County in Indiana's official directory. It keeps its own cases, its own clerk, and its own address. A city-court warrant can follow a missed appearance, an unpaid judgment, or another court-directed event in a city matter. The docket and order tell you the basis. Indiana materials use bench warrant for a court-issued arrest order in a civil or criminal proceeding. No separate capias counter or policy appears in Henry County materials. If a docket says capias, bench warrant, or failure-to-appear warrant, repeat the court's exact label and ask the city court what it means there.
New Castle City Court Is Separate
Indiana's court directory places New Castle City Court at 227 North Main Street, New Castle, with phone 765-521-6824 and fax 765-521-6826. Judge Joseph B. Lansinger is listed there too. This venue stands apart from the Henry Circuit Courts at the Justice Center. That gap is practical. A citation filed in New Castle City Court will stall if you route it only to the Henry County Clerk or Circuit Court 3. Start with the court printed on the citation, notice, or MyCase result. Ask that court to confirm the record, any FTA event, and the procedure for appearance, payment, bond, or recall.
Municipal Courts Across Henry County
Indiana's directory lists just one municipal court for Henry County: New Castle City Court. Middletown, Knightstown, Spiceland, and Shirley run local police or town government channels. The official directory names no separate municipal courts for them. A town police office is not a city court.
| Place | Verified court route | Warrant question | Phone |
|---|---|---|---|
| New Castle | New Castle City Court | City citation, FTA, bench warrant | 765-521-6824 |
| Other Henry municipalities | Check citation and MyCase court field | Confirm whether Circuit Court owns it | Clerk: 765-529-6401 |
For those Henry County towns, take each record to the court it names rather than assuming a city-court warrant counter exists.
Henry County's Two Court Addresses
New Castle City Court sits at 227 North Main Street. Henry Circuit Courts 1, 2, and 3 and the Henry County Clerk operate from 1215 Race Street. So a "New Castle case" label alone tells you little. A matter can involve the city and still belong to a Henry County court. The Indiana Judicial Branch Henry County page gives the local court route and district links.

That state page is a solid starting point for locating the official court system in Henry County. Its Judicial District 15 label does not, however, create one district-wide municipal warrant list.
Henry County Municipal Warrant Checks
New Castle posts no public warrant portal. Use Indiana MyCase to find the public city case, then call City Court. MyCase is a case-search and warrant-signal tool, not a full warrant search, and sealed matters may be absent.
- Search by citation, case, or cross-reference number when possible.
- For a party search, enter the last name and add narrow details only in the official interface.
- Choose New Castle City Court in the Court filter and review open and closed results.
- Read the chronological events for FTA, warrant issuance, service, bond, recall, or quash.
- Confirm current status and required action with New Castle City Court.
- Ask the sheriff or police about service only after identifying the issuing court.
A Henry County search limited to Henry Circuit Court can miss a 33H01 city case. The reverse also holds: a City Court-only search can miss a county filing.
When New Castle Citations Stay Municipal
A citation or notice should name its court. If it points to New Castle City Court, use that municipal contact even though the city is the Henry County seat. If MyCase shows 33C03 instead, the matter sits in Henry Circuit Court 3. Never pick a venue from the street where the stop occurred. The Circuit Court 3 official page covers traffic infractions, Level 6 felonies, misdemeanors, and other categories.

That Henry County office page helps separate county jurisdiction from New Castle City Court. It also notes that phones are not permitted in the Justice Center. Carry written case details if staff sends you there in person.
Municipal Warrants: What They Show
A public city-court case can show the case identifier, court, filing type, citation, offense or ordinance, issue event, appearance date, bond, service return, and recall or outcome. The public summary may not reproduce the full signed warrant. Read the later events before treating an old Henry County warrant line as current.
| Case code | 33H01 identifies the New Castle City Court route. |
|---|---|
| Citation or filing | Connects the order to the underlying municipal matter. |
| Trigger | FTA, missed compliance, or another court-directed reason. |
| Warrant event | Issued, served, returned, recalled, or quashed when public. |
| Bond | Amount, type, or hearing condition stated by the court. |
| Access marker | Redaction, seal, or confidentiality rule affecting display. |
A closed case does not prove no Henry County warrant ever existed, and an open one does not automatically mean a warrant is active.
Henry County Court and Police Roles
The city court controls its own order. City police or the Henry County sheriff may serve an enforceable warrant. But law enforcement does not decide a motion to recall or quash. A police records form is not a city warrant lookup either, unless the official form says so.
| Record owner | Ask about | Do not assume |
|---|---|---|
| New Castle City Court | Case, FTA, hearing, recall, payment, bond | That police can alter the order |
| Henry County Clerk or Circuit Court | County-filed case and court record | That all city matters are county cases |
| Sheriff, jail, or city police | Service, custody, or agency-held record | That a call supplies court clearance |
The safest route is the court that holds the record first. If an office says another Henry County court owns the case, write down that court's name and identifier before you call again.
Henry County Municipal Access Limits
Indiana's court-record rules favor the public. Juvenile, sealed, expunged, protected-person, and confidential-informant material may be absent or redacted anyway. Pre-execution search-warrant papers can get special treatment too. A blank MyCase result is not proof that no Henry County warrant exists. The Indiana Access to Public Records Act, Indiana Code 5-14-3, governs many agency records. It creates no public statewide warrant roster. Court records go to the issuing court or clerk. Sheriff-held administrative or law-enforcement records belong with the sheriff. The sheriff may redact investigatory details before releasing that material. Note: Describe the case, citation, date range, and record type in any Henry County public-record request.
Clearing a Municipal Court Warrant
Confirm the city case first. Ask New Castle City Court whether the next step is an appearance, payment, motion, hearing, or bond arrangement. Ask if identification or documents are required. The city court publishes no warrant form, walk-in surrender protocol, standard recall fee, or promise of same-day action on municipal warrants. A Henry County lawyer will want the case number and warrant event before assessing a recall or quash request. Recall and quash mean the court withdraws the warrant. Payment alone may not end the duty to appear. The sheriff cannot supply that judicial result, only the city court can.
Plan before travel: Call City Court and the service agency for current appearance, bond, and custody instructions before going to an office.
Fix the court case first. Then confirm the required notice reached the state BMV. The Henry County traffic warrant process explains that separate court-to-BMV trail.
